One of my recent images, “A Test Of Skill,” was selected by Vision Magazine as their cover image for their February 2012 issue. They also provided a full page inside the magazine for a selection of other works by me, along with a bio. :o)

I seem to have missed October…

Sorry ’bout that! We were having so much fun on our Spyder that I must have missed out updating the blog for over a month! We did have a good time on that Olympic National Park trip. Oh, and we also took a trip to NYC and around New England for the fall colors (not on the Spyder, alas…)

At any rate, absence means there’s just more pictures to post!

More pictures from the motorcycle nut

We’re still having a blast on our Spyder, our three-wheeled motorcycle. We’ll be heading out in a few days on an around-the-Olympic-peninsula trip, which should be a lot of fun.

In the meantime, let’s serve up some more recent pictures!

New pictures, and a new ride…

Just so you all know, I do have a life beyond artwork (shocking, I know…). So for those of you who might be interested, my wife and I recently made a new purchase: a three-wheeled motorcycle! It’s called a Can-Am Spyder. We’re all set to terrorize the highways. Better watch out! :o)

Still here!

Just letting everyone know that I haven’t fall off the edge of the planet. Just been incredibly busy with stuff (like getting kitchen replaced, so house is total disaster zone…), as well as work stuff. But I do have a new batch of pictures to upload - just need a little time! Maybe this weekend…

Website revisions

I put up my current website design about a year ago, and it’s remained relatively the same since I built it. One limitation was that since I’m using the Lightbox tool for my art galleries, all of the thumbnails on the page have to load first before the function will work properly. This means that I need to limit the total pictures in a gallery lest it take too long for someone to load ‘em all up.

In practice this had not been too big a problem, since there were enough older pictures that were no longer among my best that I could always drop one when adding a new one. But recently I reached a point with the Fantasy pictures that I wanted to keep up all the ones I had, but also add the newest batch. My solution was to create a new gallery just for Elven art (since I already have one just for Fairies), which allowed me to take 25 pix out of the Fantasy page and free up new slots. Since I had to update every page on the site for the pull-down menu, it was a bit of a chore but it’s finally done.

With that, here’s eight new pictures for your viewing pleasure:

Yep, still here…

I recently did a guest stint with the LongRidge Writers Group, spending a week answering questions for Mary Rosenblum and her cadre of writing students on book cover design. Had some insightful questions, and hopefully some useful answers!

I also had lunch yesterday with two author friends, Louise Marley and Brenda Cooper, for whom I had done some bookmarks for their forthcoming books, as well as an ad for a convention program and a poster for their book launch party. We also talked about a few other projects together, which I’m looking forward to.

And, of course, I have some more art to share. Enjoy!

Still insanely busy…

Work (the one that makes money!) is still chewing up much of my time, so haven’t had as much time to be creative. Here’s a few thought that I’ve done recently:

Norwescon tally

The Norwescon sci-fi / fantasy convention was this past weekend in the Seattle area. It was a pretty good event: I sold 10 artworks in the art show, had some folks show up for my book reading, and talked to a lot of my author and artist friends. I provided three novel critiques for the Fairwood Writers Workshop, and did two panels on writing topics. One of the my new author friends teaches classes to beginning writers, and has asked me to guest-lecture on book cover and book interior design, so that should be interesting.

Work (the bill paying one) has been consuming lots of overtime hours, so the creative things are getting a bit of short shrift. But hopefully this will only last for a few more weeks…

Been a tad busy…

Things have heated up at work, which is chewing big chunks out of my creative time. So, updates may take a little longer (but hopefully be worth the wait).

Just a reminder, I will be at Norwescon April 21st - 24th, in the Seattle area, should anyone like to touch base with me. I will have my art on display in the art show, and will be doing a reading from The Pool of Shikama on Thursday night, two panels on Sunday, and the autograph session on Saturday.

Now, on to some new art! Two fantasy pieces, one new fairy pic, one sci fi pic, and four in the misc. category.
